About Brian Lajda

I’m running for Sacramento County Supervisor, District 2, to serve the communities that have shaped my life—especially Elk Grove, Vineyard, South Sacramento, and Florin.

My commitment to this district is rooted in years of hands-on service. I’ve volunteered with organizations like Loaves & Fishes, the Boys & Girls Club in the Lemon Hill community, and the Sacramento Food Bank—working directly with families facing real challenges.

In 2019, I began working with Elk Grove Unified School District as a Food & Nutrition Services Assistant, helping provide meals to students from elementary through high school. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I stepped up to help ensure children and their families—especially those most at risk—continued to have access to food during an uncertain time.

I’ve also worked to strengthen community giving as a key volunteer for the California State Employee Charitable Campaign (CSECC) and as Vice Chair representing the Franchise Tax Board, helping expand support for nonprofits serving our region.

These experiences have shaped my priorities: supporting working families, ensuring food security, investing in our youth, and making sure every part of District 2—from Elk Grove to Florin—has a voice in county government.

I’m running to bring practical experience, community understanding, and a deep commitment to service to Sacramento County.

“I’m running for Sacramento County Supervisor, District 2, because communities like Elk Grove, Vineyard, South Sacramento, and Florin deserve leadership that understands their daily realities—not just talks about them. I’ve spent years serving in these communities, and I’m ready to bring that experience to county government.”

Questions and Answers

Why are you running for Sacramento County Supervisor, District 2?

I’m running to represent the communities that raised me and that I continue to serve every day—Elk Grove, Vineyard, South Sacramento, and Florin. These are hardworking neighborhoods, but too often they’re overlooked when decisions are made. I want to make sure their voices are heard at the county level.

Tell us about your background in community service.

Service has always been a big part of my life. I’ve volunteered with Loaves & Fishes, the Boys & Girls Club in the Lemon Hill community, and the Sacramento Food Bank. Those experiences gave me a firsthand look at the challenges families face—whether it’s food insecurity, housing, or access to opportunity.

I’ve also worked to expand giving through the California State Employee Charitable Campaign, where I served as a key volunteer and Vice Chair representing the Franchise Tax Board. That role was about building a culture of giving and supporting nonprofits that serve our region.

How has your work with Elk Grove Unified School District shaped your perspective?

Since 2019, I’ve worked as a Food & Nutrition Services Assistant with Elk Grove Unified School District, helping feed students from elementary through high school. That work is incredibly important to me because you see directly how many kids rely on school meals.

During COVID-19, that need became even more urgent. I volunteered to help make sure students and their families—especially those most at risk—still had access to food. That experience reinforced how critical county services and community partnerships really are.

What are your top priorities if elected?

My priorities come directly from what I’ve seen on the ground:

  • Expanding food access and fighting food insecurity

  • Supporting working families across South Sacramento, Florin, Vineyard, and Elk Grove

  • Investing in youth programs and education

  • Making county government more responsive to the communities it serves

This campaign is about making sure every part of District 2 is seen, heard, and supported.

“I’m running to make sure communities like Elk Grove, Vineyard, South Sacramento, and Florin have a real voice at the county level—because I’ve spent years working in those communities, and I know both the challenges and the solutions.”

I'm not a career politician. I've been serving this community directly for years. I think we need more of that perspective at the county level.
